Albergue Casa da Valada - Comentarios

I do not recommend anyone to stay at Albergue Casa da Valada, because you might receive minimum service and a lack of pleasant attitude for a maximum rate. We booked a room for a couple with a private shower. When we arrived at the house they did not wellcome us and did not even treat us. Later it turned out that the room we booked was mistakenly given to another couple and there were no rooms for a couple left in the house. The landlady offered another room with 3 single beds. We were exhausted after 30 km of walking and agreed to accept her offer, but she continued to explain over and over and didn't notice how tired we were and wanted to go to the room.. When we finally entered the room we were disappointed to find how small, sparse and unequipped it was. With the exception of basic beds, there was no other furniture in the room, not even a rack to hang clothes or a dresser to put things on. Naked room! The shower is tiny (so much so that they had to carve a place in the wall to insert the toilet). And all this at an exorbitant price of €55! We had to make do with this room since it was already late and the village of Labruja was too remote to offer another alternative. In the morning products for a basic breakfast were placed on the table. They didn't bother to take the products out of the supermarket bags.. They didn't even set up a table. It seems that in this hostel they cram as many people as possible into a crowded room, with minimal service and a maximum rate! Without a doubt this is the worst Portuguese room we have stayed in!! That evening we arrived in another village and there we won a beautiful room at the same rate (€55)! It was impossible not to notice the differences: here the welcome was warm, the room was large and decorated with the best furniture, carpets, lamps, etc.. Outside we had a swimming pool at our disposal and the next day we were served a pampering breakfast.

We are more than 28 in various dormitories. The dormitories (20 eurosnper bed/night) are very very cramped. There's only 1 bathroom with a toilet for all of us + 1 toilet for men outside. The food is 7 euros for just a tiny omelette with few fries. No drinks included. My others fellows pilgrims think is a rip-off. Definitely a no no
