Roncesvalles through Valcarlos
I realize that the Western Route of the Camino Frances from SJPP to Roncesvalles, through Valcarlos is REQUIRED in winter, but what about summer? Are any on-foot pilgirms (not just cyclists) using this route in September? Is it safe for a woman walking alone, or too isolated?

Almost everyone walk Napoleon route .
Hello. I am going to do it this year in the second half of August. But in SJPP at the information and tourism office they inform you especially about that section of the route
Do not worry. The Napoleon way is absolutelly safe, and during august, september, even october, you will find many pilgrims walking. You can start in Saint Jean, of course, but also there is an albergue five kilometers further and another one, Orison, at eight kilometers from Saint Jean. If you start in any of them probably you will find pilgrim mates for walking to Roncesvalles or a little more.
Buen Camino.
